For the second night running, Cantabrians had another taste of winter with a front delivering a wintry mix of hail, sleet and snow.
Reports of sleet and hail were coming in from a few Christchurch suburbs early this morning, with snow showers falling to low levels over Banks Peninsula.
The conditions overnight appeared to mainly affect the city area, Banks Peninsula and North Canterbury, whereas the previous night it was based little more inland.
Temperatures were very cold once more with a gusty southwesterly however skies are expected to clear throughout the day with a frost due overnight tonight.
