Meridian Energy wants to build a wind farm north of Christchurch, which could power around 31 thousand homes.
It has lodged an application to put up 33 turbines, the tallest of which would be just over 130 metres high.
They would be on the eastern side of State Highway 1 between Omihi and Greta village, more than 60 kilometres north of Christchurch. There would also be an operations and maintenance building, plus earthworks for a roading network.
Submissions on the proposal can be made to Hurunui District Council until May 24th.
