Calm and clear – Situation & outlook for Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

After an eventful week, we’re heading into a period of calm and settled weather – with most regions of New Zealand looking at fairly uneventful weather on Tuesday.

Starting at the bottom, Southland and Otago are looking at sunny areas with high cloud, winds mainly light and tending northwest.
In the mid afternoon a southwest change will move in to Southland, bringing showers, then pushing through into Otago late afternoon / evening.

On the West Coast, sunny areas and some cloud will dominate, with light westerly winds, a few showers moving into Fiordland from late morning then pushing a little further north into South Westland during the evening.

The rest of the South Island is looking good, with just some light winds to note.

Up north, the  entire eastern North Island (Wellington through to BOP) is looking at mostly sunny weather, with light winds in the morning, and afternoon sea breezes.

For the other side of the island, sunny areas and some cloud will prevail, with light winds in the morning, and afternoon west to southwest winds

And finally for Auckland & Northland, it’s again looking like mostly sunny weather with south to southwesterly breezes.
