Australia: Sydney’s neverending heat

> From the WeatherWatch archives

As school goes back this week the scorching summer-holiday-heat is sticking around.

From Monday to Sunday Sydney city is likely to average lows of 23-24 degrees and highs of 33. This is more than five degrees hotter than the January average of 19 to 26.

Meanwhile, western Sydney will be even hotter, averaging 23 degrees to 39.

Mid week Sydney will round out its hottest January on record, about one degree hotter than its previous record average temperature.

For those looking forward to the cooler weather the mildest days will be Wednesday 1st February, maybe Thursday and then the middle of next week. The rest of the days between now and then are all likely to be hot and humid with consistently hot and humid nights.
