Temperatures in Australia have been typical for Springtime – and for “typical” read “unpredictable”!
There have been unseasonally cold and hot temperatures recorded in different parts of the country, illustrated perfectly by conditions in Tasmania and Queensland.
While parts of Tassie experienced snow flurries on Thursday, and temperatures as low as -5C, Queenslanders are sweltering in the heat.
Mount Isa, in north-western Queensland, recorded temperatures of 37C on Wednesday.
The Queensland Rural Fire Service is warning of a severe fire danger for western parts of Channel Country in the state.
