As you were – Situation & outlook for Friday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Friday is looking like resuming from where we left off in the middle of this week, with a weak area of low pressure over the country, and two highs sitting out to the west and east.

North Island

The whole island is set for a mostly sunny day, with only light winds in the morning and afternoon sea breezes for most.
Cloud builds a little in the afternoon about some inland areas, and the ranges of East Cape, bringing risk of an isolated shower late afternoon and towards evening – otherwise things will stay mainly dry.

South Island

Down south, the upper half of the island and along the West Coast should stay mostly sunny with light winds, and afternoon sea breezes.

Canterbury and Otago iwill stay mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, along with light winds in the morning and afternoon east to northeast winds about the coast.

Southland has sunny areas and some cloud, with light winds, and in the late afternoon and evening there could be an isolated shower or two.
