Thick fog has again closed in on Auckland and Waikato this morning, potentially causing more commuter woes for thousands of people.  As of 7:30am Auckland Airport appeared to operating as usual but head weather analyst Philip Duncan says things can change in an instant.  “It definitely pays to be prepared for anything this morning, as fog can roll in and out in a matter of minutes”.  According to Auckland International Airport a few international flights had been delayed however it wasn’t clear if that was due to fog.

Fog has also been reported at Hamilton airport this morning.

Duncan says the latest forecast data supplied to the Weather Watch Centre shows foggy conditions should ease in the next few hours, early afternoon in a few severe cases.

“Fog is simply cloud that’s formed at ground level and with this large high over us and very little wind we have all the right ingredients for more fog tomorrow morning”.

Much of Auckland has thick fog this morning with Transit NZ webcams showing limited driving distances across city.   “Drive with your lights on and be prepared for the fog to be very thick in patches across Auckland and Waikato especially”.
