Another east/west split – The Big Picture on Thursday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Friday we have a northwesterly airflow over most of the New Zealand, while a ridge sits over the upper North Island.

It’s looking like a mainly sunny day in the east of the North Island, while cloud persists at times elsewhere – then becoming fairly sunny in the afternoon for most.
From Northland right down through to the Bay of Plenty though, isolated showers could develop in the afternoon, along with the chance of thunderstorms too – then clearing later in the evening.

For the South Island, we find sunny weather in the east, along with high temperatures.
Cloudy areas prevail in the west, with the odd shower about, and some rain at times about South Westland.
Cloudier conditions for the likes of Southland and Otago, with the odd spot of rain about.
