Showers arrived in South Australia this morning, but will return with strong winds and the risk of storms on Thursday.

A cold front reached the South Australian coastline this morning, bringing a few showers and fresh westerly winds. The showers and wind change will continue to spread northeast through the day with the front.

Tomorrow showers will be more frequent, with the chance of thunderstorms mostly near the coast and in the hills. These areas will also face the brunt of the winds with strong-to-gale force warnings for all coastal waters. The strong winds will make most of the day feel more than five degrees colder than the forecast maximum

Adelaide can expect the mercury to briefly top out at 16 degrees tomorrow, but much of the day will feel like 9 or 10 degrees in the brisk southwesterly winds.

The strong winds, showers and storms will be due to a developing low pressure system and an associated front that will move through during the afternoon.

On Friday wind and showers will begin easing for South Australia as the low moves across Victoria.

The weekend will be more pleasant for outdoor activities, however there will still be a few light showers around on Saturday. Both days on the weekend are expected to reach 15 degrees in Adelaide with partly cloudy skies.
