An end to the calm stuff on Thursday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

After a couple of days of calm, we’re about to see a bit of a shake up again in our weather, with a front moving in on Thursday to cross most of the country by evening.

The front is coming from our south, moving northwards over the South Island in the morning, before then heading onto the North Island in the afternoon.
Winds ahead of the front are northwesterly, then changing west to southwest behind it.

For the east coast of the South Island, southwesterly winds don’t really push through till evening, for places such as Canterbury in particular.

This front will likely bring rain to the west of the country, and just high cloud out east – with only a spot of two of rain.
