A beautiful sunny start to the day in Auckland with clear skies over the top two thirds of the North Island. 

Frontal cloud lies draped over central New Zealand from north Canterbury to Wellington up to Taranaki. 

It’s a warm start already in the North Island – most main centres are on 19 or 20 degrees with Napier and Hastings already around 22.

Not quite so hot in the South Island with many centres in the mid to late teens, however more afternoon heat is expected.

  • Queenstown 10
  • Gore 12

  • Blenheim 2.6 mm/hr

  • Farewell Spit 6.6 mm/hr

Windiest Centres

  • Whangaparaoa, Wellington 37km/h (gusting to 95km/h on Wellington’s hilltops)

The temperature in Greenmeadows, Napier at 12.30pm was 26 degrees.
