UPDATED 8:30am Christmas Day (final update) — A large high will remain over New Zealand bringing settled weather to most places.
However the high has been producing a few showers, especially over the central/upper North Island.
This pattern is expected to continue on Christmas Day,
Regional Forecasts
Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Gisborne
Mostly sunny but cloudy periods in the afternoon may produce a few isolated showers. Sea breezes or light winds.
High: 22 to 25
Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Wellington
Mostly sunny, light winds or light easterlies. Afternoon cloudy periods possible, especially around BOP and Waikato – and could be an isolated shower or two, otherwise dry.
High: 21 to 26
The entire South Island
Sunny or mostly sunn – cloudy periods in deeo south. Risk of a heavy afternoon shower inland near the ranges otherwise dry for most places! Little to no wind or sea breezes.
Highs: 22 to 30 (30 likely in Central Otago only)
