UPDATED 7am Easter Monday
Today is shaping up to be dry for up to 90% of the nation as the last day of the Easter break appears and also the school holidays get underway for the first week.
Easter Monday
North Island
Some cloud continues to cling onto Gisborne and northern parts of Hawkes Bay with some showers easing back but elsewhere over the North island any morning cloud or fog patches should disappear otherwise it’s looking mostly sunny with just a few clouds possible.
South Island
Much of the Mainland should see another dry day with West Coasters perhaps seeing a few spits by tonight but nothing of any real significance at this point.
Some morning cloud should peel away otherwise some high cloud could move over the far south but expect plenty of sunshine elsewhere.

As far as Auckland goes,Good Friday was the best day by far weatherwise (perfect),Saturday was cloudy but not much wind,Sunday was similar to friday except for that wind and today looks like yesterday.

Some people have cancelled their Easter holidays due to forecasts made well in advance on this and other websites. Some mad people on TradeMe general discussion boards….some forecasters are trying too hard to get one up on each other and ruining people’s plans. Unfortunate but true.

Hi there,
We provide the forecasts as we see them and it’s up to everyone to make their own plans. We give out the best advice based on the data and knowledge of area .
We did not advise people at any stage not to take a ferry, drive or not to fly as that is not our domain.
Unsure what you’re talking about regarding forecasters.
Thanks

Hi Nic,
Looks like it will be cloudy quite often with a risk of showers, possibly heavy. Hopefully an improvement later in the weekend!
Cheers
