Wellington is having a stunner, in Auckland it feels like spring and in Southland it’s wintry – that’s the set up across the country this afternoon reports WeatherWatch.co.nz.
Single digit temperatures remain in Southland this afternoon with passing showers.
In Wellington clear skies, a breezy nor’wester and mild conditions continue into this afternoon, although a cooler change is on the way later this afternoon as winds turn southerly – a couple of showers are also a possibility.
And at the top of the country Aucklanders are enjoying a mostly dry Saturday, as predicted by WeatherWatch.co.nz.
Winds from west are a bit brisk at times with passing clouds and mild conditions for what is just four days out from winter.
A slightly cooler change – the same one that will move into Wellington this afternoon – will reach Auckland overnight tonight and bring a couple of showers and slightly cooler air for Sunday.
For other North Island regions that are east of the main ranges, such as Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay, also the upper South Island, the sunny, mild, weather will continue for the rest of today and into tomorrow.
In Southland conditions should improve tomorrow as a large high starts to press in from the west with winds tilting more nor’westerly.

Yep, chilly with a cold NW wind but a sunny dry afternoon nonetheless here in Invercargill.
