Winter weather in South Island

Cold, showery conditions have been moving up the eastern coast of the South
Island today seeing temperatures more akin to late May than late February.

Weather Analyst Richard Green says ” We’ve been on a promise of rain or
showers for the last day or 2 in Christchurch and seen nothing but today is
making up for it”.

Temperatures have been as low as 10 or 11 degrees in Christchurch today and
further south, Timaru, Dunedin and Invercargill have experienced the almost
wintry conditions for the last 2 days.

Green believes that there is a clearance taking place inland and the
moisture is hugging on to eastern regions.”It looks as if we should see
drier weather tomorrow along the coastal regions but it certainly wont be
overly warm”.

This isn’t great news for the Indian cricketers who will be shivering in
Canterbury today as they standby for the first 20/20 match getting underway
tomorrow night at AMI stadium in Christchurch
