Heavy rain throughout winter could see dangerous boulders continue to threaten Christchurch’s hilly suburbs.
Civil Defence National Controller John Hamilton says over the next few weeks they’ll be working to shore up dangerous areas.
“Part of the mitigation process, we will have our teams out trying to reduce the risk of rock fall by attempting to either remove it before it moves or to capture it.”
John Hamilton says there are some properties people will never be able to go back into, due to the danger of falling rocks.
