Updated 6:33pm — Unsettled for much of New Zealand tonight due to a low pressure system settling over the country. This low passes out to the east on Saturday, still fairly unsettled with shower activity and windy conditions for many. Conditions are a little more settled on Sunday especially in the east as a northwesterly airflow builds.
Friday
Purple – Brisk to strong westerly winds for the upper North Island tonight, winds gusting to gale about western coastal areas including Auckland City.
Blue – Rain for much of Canterbury – becoming patchy this evening with dry spells returning in the north.
Saturday
Purple – Strong westerly winds for much of the North Island, winds gusting to gale about coastal areas especially in the west. Strong westerlies about northern Tasman and about the Marlborough Sounds in the South Island too.
Sunday
Blue – Rain for the west of the South Island becoming heavy at times from afternoon then easing later in the evening / overnight.
