Winds return for the new week – #WeatherRisks on Monday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s another windy start to the week as northwesterlies return, along with some steady rain in places.

Wind

Northwesterly winds become strong and gusty in the afternoon through Cook Strait.
These winds have a low risk of gusting to gale, but that’s about it – nothing too serious.

Rain

Rain moving into South Westland in the evening becomes heavy overnight.
Isolated showers also develop this afternoon about the Waikato, Bay Of Plenty, and perhaps Gisborne, as well as Hawkes Bay.
Most places should stay dry, but a few areas may get a shower or two, and some of these could be heavy – before easing in the evening.
