After what has been a fairly windy period in New Zealand’s weather we can finally look forward to less windy conditions due to anticyclones which look to dominate from now through at least till early next week. It won’t be perfect with the odd front still about skirting some areas at times but more settled in general.
Currently the main centres are as follows:
Auckland, 15 – 20 km/h Westerly
Hamilton, 20 km/h Westerly
Tauranga, 20 – 25 km/h Westerly
Wellington, 15 – 20 km/h Southerly
Christchurch, 20 km/h Southerly
Dunedin, 20 – 25 km/h Westerly
The strongest winds currently are about the lower South Island. Invercargill has a 30 km/h southwesterly wind.
