Wind, rain and showers on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Wednesday we see the rain bearing front which has brought we weather to the west coasts of both islands moving off the top of the South Island in the morning.

The system then moves over the North Island during the afternoon, pushing breezy north to northwesterly winds ahead of it.
The winds then change west to southwest behind the front – and will stay that way through most of the day in the South Island.

Any rain should be gone by evening, for both North and South Islands, with the exception of Otago and parts of South Canterbury, where showers move in towards evening.
Southland too sees showers move in mid to late afternoon, bringing some snow to a time (down to 500m) then mostly clearing in the evening.
