Firefighters in Auckland were called out six times overnight because of the wild weather, including to a tree that fell into a property.
Heavy rain and wind battered the city overnight.
Fire Service northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips says fire crews were called out to a couple of leaking roofs and trees down on roads.
“Probably the most serious incident last night was where a tree had fallen into a house at a property in Panmure,” he says
Mr Phillips understands no one was hurt when the tree smashed onto a fence and then hit the garage of the house.
Showers are forecast today in Auckland with the next front arriving on Thursday afternoon or evening. It’s possible the cold front could trigger a couple of isolated thunderstorms and some squally showers with gusty winds as it passes by says WeatherWatch.co.nz.
Thursday could get as high as 23 degrees while Friday is predicted to only reach 18 as the southerly change rolls in.
