Last night temperatures remained in double digits basically right across the North Island but overhead conditions were anything but settled.
Wellingtonians saw a very wet and windy night with certainly had an impact on the first Phoenix footy game of the season. Conditions at one point were so abysmal that there was some talk of a possible postponement but the actual ground soaked up as much of the rain as it could, so that play could continue.
Elsewhere driving rain was predominant in many places with a gusty northerly which made road conditions quite treacherous in places.
This was the same rain band that delivered a number of problems in eastern Australia earlier in the week.

It appears that the rain is set to continue through the night and into tomorrow morning. Might be some lighter falls in the mix but heavy ones are expected to continue as well.
Thanks for the stats!
Cheers

Phoenix footy game – They should have more sense to stay indoors than be out in weather like this.. but as all mad idiots into footy games, cause nothing but problems on the roads, speed, slippery conditions, poor visiablity, hospitals, ambulances staff over worked. A stay at home weekend with family is more important.
As they say, where have all the flowers gone? where is common sense these days?
