Auckland has been wet, Christchurch has been gloomy and drizzly and it hasn’t been the best day to get the first week of the school holidays underway.
Much of the North Island has seen some rain this morning with a few localised heavy downpours and some rattles of thunder.
The eastern areas of the South Island have been murky and cold with a not a rapid improvement expected before darkness descends tonight.
Tomorrow the sunshine should return to a number of areas across the mainland but remaining very cool. The North Island might be a little milder but not expected to see as much sunshine as their southern counterparts.
