Weekend: Hot & sunny or Cold and showery?

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The weather this weekend will be either hot and sunny or cold and showery – that’s a rough summary of conditions across New Zealand as a southerly moves through the east and sunny conditions prevail elsewhere.

WeatherWatch.co.nz expects those in the east from Christchurch to Wellington then up to Gisborne will see the coldest weather this weekend, with highs only making it to 13 or 14 degrees for many with clouds and showers moving through.

Showers are expected to be more frequent in the North Island and easing in the South Island.

Meanwhile sunny or mostly sunny weather should continue in the west and also the deep south.

WeatherWatch.co.nz predicts Central Otago and Southland will have the sunniest weather this weekend with hot conditions in Central Otago meaning highs will get into the mid 20s.

Aucklanders should enjoy more of the same – sun and cloud with easterlies.
