Southerly quarter winds ease over the North Island today with a high pressure system over the South Island expanding northwards.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny weather, a few clouds may drift through from afternoon. Low risk of a shower for Northland late afternoon / early evening. Light winds.
Highs: 24-26
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks sunny spells, Taranaki has a mainly sunny day. Southeasterly winds may tend more onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-24
Eastern North Island
Cloudy areas and occasional showers, clearing in the evening but a few clinging to Gisborne overnight. Southerly winds.
Highs: 22-23
Wellington
A few light morning showers clear then sunny spells increase, southerlies.
Highs: 19-24
Marlborough & Nelson
Some cloud morning and night for Marlborough, sunnier weather by day with southerlies tending easterly in the afternoon. Nelson has a mainly sunny day, afternoon northerlies.

Canterbury
Morning low cloud or fog breaks to sunny spells, cloud thickens again at night. East to northeasterly winds.

West Coast
A mix of sun and cloud, areas of low cloud or fog morning and night. Light winds.

Mostly sunny weather, low cloud or fog possible morning and night. Light winds. Northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
