Wednesday’s national forecast – Frosty South Island

Settled for the South Island today thanks to high pressure, frosty to start especially inland. The North Island has a southeasterly airflow with showers in the east and perhaps brushing Great Barrier Island / eastern Northland, mostly sunny in the west otherwise.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud for Northland, further south is sunny after any morning cloud breaks away. Great Barrier Island and eastern Northland have the odd shower at times. Southeasterlies, strong in the east.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, northern Taranaki should be sunnier. Southeasterly winds, a bit fresh about the coast.
Highs: 9-15

Eastern North Island

Cloudy and cool with showers, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Wellington

Cloud, perhaps a morning shower, sunny areas start to break through from afternoon. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny for Nelson. Marlborough has some cloud especially about the coast with the chance of a shower although this risk eases from afternoon. Southerlies.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury

Morning mist or fog then mostly sunny, cloud may linger longer for coastal areas Banks Peninsula northwards but hopefully sun breaks through in the afternoon. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 5-11

West Coast

Sunny, light winds.
Highs: 10-14

Southland & Otago
Morning mist or fog then mostly sunny, light winds for most, afternoon northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
Highs: 6-11
