Wednesday’s national forecast – Front in the far south

Most of New Zealand is settled today thanks to high pressure, a front moves into the far south this afternoon bringing rain to Fiordland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mist or fog possible morning and night, mostly sunny by day with light winds tending southwest. Afternoon sea breezes possible along the eastern coastline.
Highs: 24-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mist or fog possible morning and night, mostly sunny otherwise with light winds.
Highs: 20-24

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud may bring a few showers then sunny spells increase from afternoon. Wairarapa is mostly sunny. Light winds.
Highs: 22-23

Wellington

Mostly sunny with northerly winds.
Highs: 21-24

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny, some cloud at times. Northerly winds.
Highs: 22-25

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, a touch of high cloud possible. Northerly winds inland, northeasterlies across the plains, fresh near the coast.
Highs: 21-25


West Coast

Partly cloudy, morning fog for inland Buller clears. South Westland is mostly cloudy. Rain moves into Fiordland during the morning then pushes northwards to reach Hokitika in the evening. Northerly quarter winds.
Highs: 18-24

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, cloud increases from afternoon, a few spits of rain possible in the evening about coastal parts. Northerly winds, tending northeast for coastal Otago.
Highs: 23-27
