Wednesday’s national forecast – A few showers about, rain in the south

We have some weak high pressure over New Zealand today bringing some settled weather but a few weak fronts and troughs bring showers or some rain also for certain regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower, mainly about northern Northland. Light winds.
Highs: 12-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a few showers developing in the morning, perhaps the Central Plateau may not see a shower till afternoon. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 5-13

Eastern North Island

Cloud about Wairarapa spreads into Hawkes Bay then Gisborne from midday, winds are light. Staying mainly dry but there could be a few light showers for Wairarapa overnight.
High: 13-14

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud, chance of the odd shower. Light northerlies change to the south at night.
Highs: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon. Overnight some cloud moves in as light winds change southerly.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Sunny after a frosty start, cloud starts to increase from afternoon as light winds change to the south. Some drizzle may develop later in the evening.
Highs: 11-14

West Coast

A mix of sun and cloud with light winds, Fiordland has showers that clear in the evening.
Highs: 11-14

Southland & Otago
Rain develops early morning for Southland, a few showers reach into Otago late morning as southwesterlies freshen, rain or showers clearing evening with southwesterlies dying out.
Highs: 10-12
