The North Island lies under a ridge of high pressure today with generally light winds from the north or northwest, south of Taranaki through to Wellington in the west conditions will be a bit more breezy however. For the South Island rain can be expected out west while dry weather with high cloud will be the main feature in the east.

Northland
Sunny spells and some cloud with north to northwest breezes. There could be a brief isolated shower or two during the afternoon.
High: 18

Central North Island, Waikato, Bay Of Plenty & Auckland
Sunny spells and some cloud with light north to northwest winds, there could be a morning fog patch or two especially about some inland areas. Cloud may be a little more persistent during the day for the Central North Island.
High: 13-17

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light northwest breezes, winds about Wairarapa will be a little brisk at times however.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island
Cloudy spells with the odd shower at times, long dry spells too. Breezy northerly winds.
High: 15-16

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower at times, brisk northerly winds.
High: 14

Nelson
Mainly cloudy skies, some rain develops by midday with northerly winds. Rain may be heavy at times.
High: 14

Marlborough
Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, expect brisk north to northwesterly winds. Some scattered rain starts to spread from the west from late afternoon or evening. The Sounds however could expect some rain from morning.
High: 17

Canterbury
Mostly sunny weather, high cloud gradually increases from midday with northerlies winds picking up. A few spots of rain possible overnight.
High: 17

West Coast
Periods of rain, possibly heavy and thundery at times. Northerly winds.
High: 14

Coastal Otago
Sunny with increasing high cloud and north to northeasterly breezes freshening up a little in the afternoon. There may be some brief rain pass through overnight.
Highs: 13-14

Central Otago
High cloud thickening from morning with northerly breezes, expect showers at times from afternoon then some rain overnight.
Highs: 12-13

Southland
High cloud thickens from morning with north to northeasterly breezes. Overnight some rain moves in.
Highs: 14-15
