An anticyclone lies over most of New Zealand today bringing sunny weather. West of Northland however a weak low pressure system brings some showery weather to areas north of about Auckland in the afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Morning sunny spells however cloud increases around midday and showers move in during the afternoon north of about Auckland. The odd evening shower may affect western Bay Of Plenty, sunny there before that time. Expect northeasterly breezes perhaps a little breezy about Auckland in the evening. The Waikato and Central North Island can expect a mostly sunny day with some afternoon cloud, cold to start.

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds for most, perhaps an early shower about Gisborne then clearing.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington & Western North Island
Sunny with light winds, northerly breezes about Wellington.
Highs: 14-16

Nelson
Mostly sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon, a few clouds about.
Highs: 16-17

Marlborough
Sunny with light winds, a general northwest breeze develops about the outer sounds in the afternoon.
High: 16

Canterbury
Sunny with light afternoon easterly breezes.
Highs: 13-14
 
West Coast
Sunny with light winds. Some afternoon cloud about Fiordland however, risk of an evening drizzle patch there.
Highs: 15-16
 
Southland & Otago
Cloudy periods about Southland with the odd shower possible mainly in the morning, longer sunny spells in the afternoon with westerly breezes. Sunny with some cloud elsewhere, light winds.
Highs: 12-14
