Wednesday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

This final day of the summer could be another wet one for many Kiwis.

Much of the South Island will run the risk of seeing showers today.  Marlborough and Northern Canterbury may see a relatively dry early morning, but shower chances will go up late in the morning.  Otherwise, the rest of the island will see chances for showers throughout the day.  Some heavier falls are possible for the West Coast and Nelson during the afternoon and evening.

Highs about the island will be mainly in the low 20’s.  Upper teens are expected for the coastal sections of Southland and Otago.

The North Island will also see chances for showers today.  But those chances will not be quite as widespread as the South Island.

Showers may sweep across Northland, Auckland, and Bay of Plenty in the morning.  Those should ease in the afternoon.  The rest of the island may see a few passing showers during the day, but chances are small.

A few showers may redevelop about Auckland late in the day and on into the evening hours.

Highs for the North Island will range from 20 to 25.
