Upper North Island

Southwesterly breezes in the west today from Waikato through to Northland, expect mostly sunny weather with some cloud, southwesterlies may become brisk in the afternoon right on the coast. Sunny with light winds in the Bay Of Plenty and about the Central North Island. Mostly sunny weather for Gisborne with northeasterly breezes on the coast.
HIGHS: 18-19 degrees today about most areas in the west including Auckland. 20-21 for the Waikato, Central North Island and Bay of Plenty. 23-24 in Gisborne.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny with westerly breezes in Taranaki turning more northwest about Kapiti and Wellington. Sunny in the Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa with northeasterlies right on the coast, winds tending more northwest inland mainly in Wairarapa.
HIGHS: 17-18 degrees in Taranaki through to Wellington, 19-20 further inland away from the coast. High’s of 23 to 24 in western regions.

Upper South Island

Very pleasant and sunny weather for the upper South Island today, light winds on the east coast and southwesterly breezes hang about on the West Coast during the day. Expect a few areas of cloud on the West Coast. About Canterbury conditions will be mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, winds will mostly be light. In the afternoon a few isolated showers may develop about the foothills of South and Mid Canterbury and there is also a chance of a southerly breeze moving through after midday through to Banks Peninsula bringing slightly cooler temperatures.
HIGHS: 17-18 from North Westland northwards on the West Coast. 22 in Nelson. 25-26 in Marlborough. 24-25 in Canterbury.

Lower South Island

Cloudy areas about South Westland, cloudy in Fiordland with the odd shower, westerlies. High cloud elsewhere with light winds tending westerly. In the afternoon winds tend more southwest especially about Southland and Coastal Otago, this will bring some cloud and a few showers.
HIGHS: Low 20’s possible in North Otago near the coast and also Central Otago. 16 to 17 elsewhere in Southland and Otago. 14 to 15 about Fiordland and South Westland.

Hi WW, all anticyclonic gloom up here in Whangarei, was so looking forward to the sunshine predicted but not to be. SW fresh as well.
