An anticyclone still brings mainly settled weather to New Zealand today, a weakening front pushing into this high brings a few showers to the southwestern corner of the South Island however.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud, especially out west then breaking to sunny areas and some developing high cloud. There could be some fog to start about the Waikato. West to southwesterly winds, light winds tend northerly in the afternoon for Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 24-27
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas and some high cloud, light winds tend to the west by midday.
Highs: 20-25
Eastern North Island
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, a touch of high cloud moves in. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-26
Wellington
Mostly cloudy, increasing northerly winds.
High: 20
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and some high cloud, light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 24-27
Canterbury
Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas and high cloud. East to northeasterly winds. Warmest temperatures just inland away from the coast.
Highs: 22-27
West Coast
Sunny areas and some high cloud, mid level cloud with a few showers moves into Fiordland during the morning then pushing a little further northwards into South Westland during the afternoon. North Westland stays mainly dry. Light winds tend north to northeast by midday.
Highs: 19-20
Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy skies about Southland, there may be the odd spit or shower. Light northerlies tend southwest later in the day. Otago has sunny areas and some high cloud (morning coastal lower level cloud breaks away), winds are light tending to the northwest inland, east to northeast near the coast.
Highs: 21-27
