A large anticyclone brings mainly settled weather today however unstable conditions may develop about some North Island regions this afternoon, especially inland where thundery falls are possible.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells, a few isolated showers possible from around midday then easing in the evening. Showers about western Waikato may be heavy. East to northeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with light winds then afternoon sea breezes. Cloud builds in the afternoon especially about inland areas where isolated showers develop, some may be heavy with thunderstorms then easing in the evening.
Highs: 19-24
Eastern North Island
Morning cloud clears to mostly sunny weather, east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-22
Wellington
Sunny, northerly winds from midday.
High: 21
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-24
Canterbury
Sunny, breezy afternoon east to northeasterly winds. Some inland areas see lighter winds in the afternoon with warmer temperatures than nearer the coast.
Highs: 19-23
West Coast
Sunny with light winds then afternoon west to southwest winds.
Highs: 17-23
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds. East to northeasterly winds about coastal Otago make temperatures a little cooler.
Highs: 19-25
