Winds will be blustery from the west or southwest over most of the North Island today, expect cloudy areas and sunny breaks. A few lingering showers possible on western coastlines. In Wellington expect sunny and cloudy areas, gusty northwesterlies. Sunny weather on the east coast with breezy northwesterly winds.

Cloudy on the West Coast of the South Island with showers and brisk west to northwest winds, a few showers sneak into Southland at times otherwise expect high cloud and strong northwesterlies gale force at times on the coast. Sunny on the east coast with some high cloud and strong northwesterlies also from midday, northwesterlies possibly gale force at times in inland areas from afternoon.

Temperatures in the mid teens for most in the North Island, 13 to 14 expected on the Waikato coastline down through to Kapiti however. High teen temperatures on the east coast. Temperatures up around 18 degrees on the east coast of the South Island, 13 degrees on the West Coast and mid teen temperatures in Southland and Nelson.
