An anticyclone lies in the Tasman Sea today spreading a ridge over New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, cloud a little more frequent from afternoon especially in the west. The Bay Of Plenty stays mainly sunny all day. Light southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, light winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 10-13

Eastern North Island
Sunny about the Wairarapa. Hawkes Bay sees early cloud clear then becoming mostly sunny. Gisborne sees a few morning showers then sunny areas break through from afternoon. Winds are light for the most part however south to southwesterly winds about Gisborne don’t ease till later in the day.
Highs: 11-13

Wellington
A mix of sun and cloud, light northerlies.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with some high cloud later in the evening, light winds.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, light winds.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast
A mix of sun and cloud (cloud may be thicker about coastal fringes, especially morning), high cloud increases from afternoon. The odd light shower about Fiordland then rain at times from late afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 11-12

Southland & Otago
High cloud, some rain develops in the afternoon about Southland as northwesterly winds change southwest. Rain eases in the evening. Otago has sunny areas and thickening high cloud however remaining mainly dry, there may be a spot of rain in the evening.
Highs: 7-13
