An anticyclone lies over most of New Zealand today bringing mainly settled and frosty weather, just a few showers for the North Island’s east coast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light southerly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud with light winds.
Highs: 8-13

Eastern North Island
A few coastal showers (right on the coast), easing during the day and clearing in the evening. These showers are more likely to affect northern Hawkes Bay / Gisborne the most. Mainly dry elsewhere with morning cloud breaking to sunny areas which gradually increase during the day. Winds cool from the southwest.
Highs: 12-13

Wellington
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, southerly winds.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds after a frosty start.
Highs: 10-12

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with light winds, any morning coastal cloud breaks away. A frosty start for many especially inland.
Highs: 8-11

West Coast
Mostly sunny with light winds, there may be some cloud about the coast at times. Perhaps even a drizzle patch at times about Fiordland.
Highs: 8-11

Southland & Otago
Sunny with light winds. A frosty start especially inland.
Highs: 7-10
