High cloud spreads over the upper North Island today with mostly sunny weather, rain however spreads south during the day from the tip of Northland reaching Auckland overnight with gusty southeasterly winds. Mostly fine and sunny over the lower half of the island with easterly breezes picking up a little later in the day and some high cloud developing at night.

Sunny in the South Island with light winds tending southerly for a time in Otago and Canterbury in the afternoon. Some drizzle about Fiordland with westerly winds, morning showers clear in Southland with afternoon sun there. About Otago expect sunny areas and some cloud, in the afternoon there is the low risk of a few afternoon showers popping up over some hills and ranges.

High’s on a bit more of a level playing field across the country today, 14 to 15 for most in the North Island, similar temperatures for the South Island also however Fiordland a bit cooler around 12 to 13 degrees.
