The main low pressure system associated with Ex Tropical Cyclone Gita lies east of the South Island today meanwhile another low sits west of the South Island. A northwest airflow lies over the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with a shower or two possible at times, west to northwesterly winds. The Bay Of Plenty is looking mostly sunny and mainly dry after any early showers clear.
Highs: 24-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and sunny spells, a shower or two at times also. Northwesterly winds, breezy for some coastal areas.
Highs: 19-23

Eastern North Island
Sunny weather with northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 27-29

Wellington
The odd shower with gusty west to northwesterly winds, winds change southerly in the evening bringing rain.
High: 20

Marlborough & Nelson
Some morning sun then showers develop in the afternoon. Some overnight rain. Northwesterlies may tend southeast, especially overnight.
Highs: 19-21

Canterbury
Rain (possibly heavy first thing) then easing to showers in the afternoon, fresh southwesterly winds gusting to gale force out on Banks Peninsula then easing overnight.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast
Rain, chance of the odd heavy fall then easing later in the evening. Winds from the southeast however tending northerly in the afternoon for North Westland.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Rain, heavy at times then easing late afternoon / evening. Breezy southeasterly winds tend gusty southwest late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 12-14
