Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy with a light shower or drizzle patch at times, blustery northeasterly winds. Rain moves into Northland this evening. Highs in the low to mid twenties.

Lower North Island

Areas of cloud and sun, a spit of rain possible for Wellington from afternoon then rain moves into most western regions this evening. Some heavy rain possible overnight. North to northeasterly winds, gusty about eastern coastal fringes. Northeasterlies strong at times about coastal Taranaki. Temperatures reaching into the mid twenties for most, high twenties along the east coast.

Upper South Island

Rain pushing into North Westland, Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough this morning. Heavy falls possible about Nelson and Marlborough (especially Tasman) from this afternoon then easing around midnight. Canterbury sees thick high cloud, may be a few spots of rain especially in North Canterbury then clearing late afternoon, some sun later in the day. Northeasterly winds, becoming breezy about coastal Canterbury this afternoon. Highs in the low to mid twenties.

Lower South Island

Rain for South Westland, heavy at times then easing from afternoon. Morning spots of rain clear Southland and Otago then some sun breaks through, isolated showers may develop this afternoon / evening. Winds from the northeast however tending southeast about Southland from afternoon. Highs in the low to mid twenties.
