A slack pressure gradient brings light winds and potentially unstable conditions today for some regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells and plenty of high cloud, chance of a shower mainly morning then again late afternoon / evening before clearing away. Light winds tend southwest for most. Some morning rain about eastern Bay Of Plenty clears away.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Areas of cloud and some sun, showers develop in the afternoon possibly heavy then clearing overnight. Light winds tend southerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, a few isolated showers late afternoon / evening then easing overnight. Light winds tend southerly in the evening.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington
Chance of a morning shower then expect cloudy areas with south to southeasterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny then cloud builds in the afternoon bringing a few isolated showers, especially about inland areas where one or two may be heavy. Showers clear in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Any morning showers clear, mostly cloudy with southerlies tending easterly by midday. There may be a drizzle patch or two for inland areas during the day.
Highs: 10-13

West Coast
A mix of sun and cloud with light winds, isolated showers possible in the afternoon about Buller / Tasman some of which could become heavy then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 14-17

Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas and occasional sun. Light winds, afternoon westerlies for Southland. Southwesterlies tend easterly around midday about coastal Otago.
Highs: 12-14
