A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand, very much summer type weather today with hot temperatures in-store for many. Nearer some coastal areas sea breezes could keep things a tad cooler though.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas with northeasterly breezes, the odd shower possible this morning Auckland southwards any of which clear. Then there may be an isolated shower late afternoon / evening mainly about South Auckland and the Waikato.
Highs: 25-30

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny and hot with light winds after any morning cloud breaking away especially inland. About Taranaki cloud builds a little in the afternoon and there may be an isolated shower or two late afternoon / evening.
Highs: 26-33

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon east to northeast breezes. Warmest inland with lighter winds.
Highs: 25-28

Wellington

Sunny with light winds, perhaps tending onshore in the afternoon.
High: 25

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with afternoon north to northeasterly winds. Hottest temperatures about Marlborough and inland areas.
Highs: 25-30

Canterbury

Sunny after any morning fog or cloud burns away with east to northeasterly winds, brisk in the afternoon near the coast. Hot inland where winds are lighter.
Highs: 23-29

West Coast

Mainly sunny with light winds tending westerly in the afternoon, hot inland especially Buller.
Highs: 24-30

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny weather with light winds, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening. Breezy afternoon easterlies about coastal Otago.
Highs: 25-29
