Here are the regional forecasts for Wednesday – and we have a cold front moving into the lower South Island bringing a little rain and much cooler air for 24 hours. The upper North Island has high pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Pen, BOP, Waikato, Central Plateau, Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Kapiti
Sunny areas and some cloud, can’t rule out a shower but mostly dry with light winds and sea breezes. Nor’westers may be a little brisker from Kapiti to Manawatu.
Highs: 23-27
Tonight’s Lows: 10-15 

Wellington & Eastern North Island
Nor’easters drive in some cloudy periods and the chance of a shower, especially near the ranges later.
Highs: 22 to 24
Tonight’s Low: 12

West Coast
Fairly cloudy with showers more likely south of Hokitika where it may even turn to rain.  Winds from the westerly quarter.
Highs: 20 – 22
Tonight’s Low: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Nor’westers with the risk of a shower but a mostly Dry day.
Highs: 22-26
Tonight’s Lows: 8-11

Canterbury
A few showers moving north during the day. Hit and miss but patchy for some, SW change moving in.
Highs: 20 – 25
Tonight’s Low: 7-9

Southland, Central & Coastal Otago
Rain, most likely clearing from Southland’s coast in the morning – only patchy lighter rain for Otago, drying out again in the afternoon. Cold change coming with highs down 10 degrees on Tuesday,
Highs: 14 to 16
Tonight’s Low: 5-8
