Wednesday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Gusty south-east winds are expected across the North Island today.  Those winds will combine with periods of showers to make it a very unsettled day.

The heaviest rain is expected to confine itself to Gisborne and Hawkes Bay where heavy rain warnings are in effect.  Pockets of heavy rain are possible for Northland as well.  However, the chances are not as great.

The rest of the island should see a few showers from time to time, but heavy rain is not expected.

The South Island is looking dry and quiet today with the exception of the far northern sections.  Nelson could see a few showers this morning, whilst Marlborough is running the risk for showers all day long.

Otherwise, look for a mix of clouds and sun over the rest of the island.

Highs today will be in the upper teens and 20’s.
