A low pressure system moves over the country tonight so most places are looking to be unsettled or becoming unsettled. Skies will start to clear up however for the West Coast of the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato
Periods of rain develop this evening with a few heavy falls and possibly thundery, then easing during the night to showers as northerlies tend northwest. Northwesterlies pick up a little gusty at times on western coastlines.
Lows tonight: 9-13

Central North Island & Bay Of Plenty
Periods of rain nearer the coast, a few heavy falls. Showers more likely about the Central North Island. Light winds.
Lows tonight: 8-11

Eastern North Island
Thick high cloud with light winds. Some rain moves over East Cape and Gisborne overnight.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Western North Island
The odd shower with northerlies. Some rain also especially for Taranaki northwards where there could be heavy falls.
Lows tonight: 8-10

Wellington
The odd shower develops with northerly winds, one or two may be heavy. Rain around dawn tomorrow with southerlies freshening.
Lows tonight: 9-10

Marlborough & Nelson
Periods of rain or showers, winds from the north or northwest.
Lows tonight: 7-9

Canterbury
Cloudy areas, a few clear spells this evening too. Winds light gradually tending southwest. Showers develop towards dawn tomorrow morning.
Low tonight: 6-8

West Coast
Areas of rain or showers clearing tonight, east to southeast winds develop.
Lows tonight: 9-10

Southland & Otago
Rain or showers with cool southerlies.
Lows tonight: 4-7
