An anticyclone to the northeast of the country and a depression to the south are bringing a north to northwesterly airflow over New Zealand. The North Island is more under the influence of the high pressure system so most places will be dry after isolated showers clear this evening. For the South Island expect rain on the West Coast to ease later this evening, in the east dry conditions prevail.
