Wednesday Newsfeed: Cold air settles, frosts spread (+6 Maps)

Windy weather continues to ease around the country over Wednesday and Thursday with many showers clearing – although a few remain in the east and the north.

Despite locally some winds being from the north or east, the general airflow over the country is out of the subantarctic region (Southern Ocean). As the winds ease, the colder air sinks at night. Frosty weather is likely to expand over the coming nights/morning across NZ.

Frosts may even go as far north as sheltered inland parts of Auckland later this week.

Our mobile app has free general frost maps – but also paid hyper-local frost alerts where you set the criteria (temperature) for your property (or for multiple locations).
