nzherald.co.nz and head weather analyst Philip Duncan team up to bring you the latest on the thunderstorms around the country, the cold winds, snow, hail and heavy showers – and where the sun is shining (West Coast for starters!)
We also look at what is instore for the next day or two plus your advanced weekend forecast.
You’ll find text versions of what Phil discusses in this video in the stories on our homepage.
Please note there will be no weather video this Friday or Monday due to bereavement leave – next video update Tuesday. We apologise for any inconvenience but remember you can stay up to date with the latest rain, wind and swell maps by clicking on our maps page 24/7.

It wont lay it off in Auckland, the ridge is getting weaker each run in the weekend by the time it gets here finally so the likelyhood of rain in the weekend is more likely too now.
