Weather Video: Tasman Sea storm to deepen over New Zealand

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A deep low pressure system will drop into the 970hPa range this Friday as it crosses New Zealand bringing large areas of heavy rain and gale to severe gale winds.

The rain clouds will be broken up due to the large size of this low and our mountains and ranges – but this system is likely to bring a burst of wind and rain to many areas.

The good news is that it will be milder and snow doesn’t look to be a serious problem – although it may still affect Alpine Passes on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile the forecast into the weekend improves.

We cover the next 4 days in detail as this deep low heads to New Zealand
