In our first video of 2012 Philip Duncan talks about the sun finally arriving in Auckland, more rain on the way for Southland, but it comes with windy weather too.
Conditions ease on Friday and Saturday but then Sunday sees a southerly front racing towards Southland and by Monday will affect two thirds of New Zealand dropping temperatures and bringing strong winds and rain or showers to many southern and eastern areas of both islands.

Hey Guys,
Looking at your maps, is it true in saying that Saturday is looking better than friday night for a fish on the east coast? see way more blue than on friday.
Would it be likely to change any more or due to it being this far out is it set in stone now?
Thanks 🙂

Hi there – yep Saturday looks slightly more settled than Friday but to be honest both will probably be fairly similar. Check the marine forecasts at http://www.Weathermap.co.nz for more detailed information – we will eventually link to them here at WW but may not be for another year.
Change-wise, it’s mostly locked in now – highs are good like that, but this one is getting the squeeze put on so keep checking those maps and forecasts up until you set out, just to be safe.
Have fun!
Cheers
WW

You shouldn’t apologise for mentioning Auckland. We are 1.5 million after all. Cheers for the update.
